Knows any reason why we should prohibit polyandry? Why it’s not legal?
The only reason why people want to criminalize polyandry is because they fear it’ll lead to slippery slope that will also legalize polygamy. However, there is no reason among political spectrum to prohibit polyandry, by itself.
Thiery, marriage used to have a very important use. It was to decide fatherhood and hence distribute inheritance and child support. At that time, without government encouragement, people would get married anyway and just ask for government to enforce contract, like stoning.
Now if you want to know who daddy is, just use DNA test.
Marriage still has other uses, namely redistribute mates in ways that fit the interest of those who are in power.
In western civilization, that means equal share for everyone. We’re not meant to be paired one on one. We are meant to be paired the way any restaurants are paired with customer. The few who are best get all the market share and that’s it. Under free market, that’s what will happen. Well, gene pool socialist voters don’t like that.
So they impose monogamic norms while prohibiting anything that makes it easy for any people to get too many mates.
The idea is that single males are loose cannons. Single males would do anything to get a woman and that means robbing banks, becoming scientists, etc. The solution is either increase crime punishment or appease those single males by making it difficult for any males to get many women. Western civilization choose the latter. Arabs choose the former.
Is marriage useful for you? Well, if favors from society is important, yes. If you’re rich enough, then do whatever you want. That’s my main motivation to be rich now. So I can be free.
