In a society, the people on that village have a habit of giving car keys to fraudulent strangers. The stranger is neither their family nor friend. The stranger has bad reputation of running away with cars. Typical such strangers simply drive away with those cars, quite obviously and predictably. Then the people worked hard again only to give away their cars again. Soon very few want to work hard, and all just want to be car keys receivers. Quite obviously the people in that village are not rich.
Then the people keep doing it again.
“People are not selfish, they’re just misguided” say the people. “What we have here is moral crisis. We need to teach morality to our children so they to become a highly moral people that will willingly give their car keys to those strangers.”
And on and on the tradition never ends.
