When People Commit Evil in the Name of Religion, Should We Blame the Religion or Human Nature?

Human nature. And that’s precisely the problem with religion. Most influential religious dogma are simply sugar coated human nature. The fact that it needs to be coated shows that it’s actually something we would normally be repulsive.

I don’t know if God is behind any religion. Maybe God is indeed behind the original religion. A BIG IF, whatever that mean. However it means practically nothing because we’re not following the original religion. We are following modern interpretation of ancient religion.

While I don’t know if God is behind any religion, I know for sure that corrupt officials and tyrants are behind most religious doctrines.

Can we believe in God without faith?

My idea is if it’s possible, I want to be able to believe in God without needing faith. Are there evidences?

For example, the story of Sadrach Mesach and Abednego is a major story. Are there Babylonian records corroborating that stories? Why God wants us to have faith anyway? I know political leaders want us to have faith so they can trick us more easily. But why would God? Can’t the almighty convince humans of his existence in a more convincing way?

Can we Predict Religious Doctrines?

“Atheistic theories of religion” don’t predict the features of religion you claim. Those theories have been designed so that they fit with what has been observed about religion in the past. A prediction would be a claim about a new religion that hasn’t yet been observed. An acceptable substitute for a prediction would be a retrodiction, eg. predicting what will be discovered about a religion from the past whose details haven’t yet been uncovered. I don’t know any examples of either non-trivial prediction or retrodiction in this area. Maybe you know some.
