The issue is not christianity. The issue is the very human nature that’s hidden. In other word, in the absent of christianity, such as in china, in muslim world, and among liberal feminazis, we too will see opposition to prostitution or any efficient system.
The real issue is human nature. We can think of marriage as prostitution where everyone is the pimp. Everyone wants to be pimp and they do not want to compete with more efficient pimps. That’s all.
Prostitution is prohibited under the pretext of maintaining “women’s dignity”. The truth is, prostitution is a very high paying job, not to mention one of the most enjoyable too. However, if prostitution is legal so will effectively polygamy, contract marriage, etc. The rich will just rent a lot and the rest don’t get any. That’s the real reason why prostitution is disallowed. It’s not because it’s a “too bad” job. It’s because it’s too good. Given choice, too many women would do it, too few will still want to get married.

Because most males can’t afford them. It’s the same reason why polygamy is
illegal. To ration females in equal share for everyone. I also totally agree with Jason’s answer.
Well not all married women will be out of biz, but it’ll be much tougher for alimony seeking vipers to get clients if they have to compete with cheaper hotter eastern european babes.

Prostitution is effectively a privatized marriage. Prohibition of prostitution is then a price control. Plain and simple.
